Dermatology
Cases
Contact the MUHSC dermatology clinic at 573.882.8108.
Request a Dermatology appointment, and specify you would like
to schedule the appointment via the Missouri Telehealth Network.
Be sure to specify which rural location you would like to visit
for the appointment (e.g. Putnam County Hospital).
Provide the rest of the information that the Patient Service Representative
will request. This will include name, address, date of birth,
reason for the appointment, and insurance information. Please note that there is no difference in the manner in which
an in-person Dermatology appointment or a telehealth Dermatology
appointment is scheduled. If your insurance requires a referral
from your primary care physician to reimburse for specialist
services provided in person, a referral is also required for
services provided via telehealth. At this time, most Dermatology
telehealth services are provided during a regularly scheduled
weekly clinic.
Other Encounters
Other encounters include surgery, neurology, endocrinology,
adolescent medicine and burn clinic.
Contact Mirna Becevic at the Missouri Telehealth Network at 573.
884.7958.
Request a telehealth encounter by providing all of the following
information:
-
Your name and site name (e.g., Pershing Memorial
Hospital)
-
Indicate the type of specialty being requested
for the encounter
-
Provide any patient information you feel would
be relevant to convey to the specialty department, including
the reason for the encounter (e.g. second opinion, diagnosis
confirmation, medication evaluation, etc.
An MTN form requesting additional patient history and demographics
will be faxed to you for completion. Return instructions will
be provided.
Appointments are generally requested within a certain time frame.
Please provide the MTN staff with any restrictions during that
time when the patient cannot be available. The referring clinician
may choose to participate or not participate in the encounter.
They are always welcome but the decision to participate rests
solely with that practitioner.
The MTN staff will then make the necessary arrangements for
the encounter and call you back as soon as possible with the
scheduling details.
In some cases, the consulting physician may contact the referring
clinician directly for additional information.
Patient Information
Scheduling patients for telehealth encounters requires the same
patient demographic information as scheduling a face-to-face encounter.
In that regard:
All patient demographic information must be available prior
to scheduling.
All insurance information must be available prior to scheduling.
Appointment Availability
Appointments for ad hoc telehealth encounters are made on first
come, first served basis and are contingent upon availability of
the provider. The MTN staff will make every reasonable effort
to meet the needs of the patient.
