MTN Training
The Missouri Telehealth Network (MTN) provides formal and informal training to new and existing members of the network.
In a more formal setting MTN has hosted several training programs beginning with the establishment of the Missouri Telehealth Resource Center in 2003 (See "historical projects" for more information regarding the MTRC). The MTRC was created to provide new members of MTN or of other telehealth networks with an overview regarding telehealth. This included technological, clinical, educational and administrative aspects of telehealth. Though the funding has ended for the MTRC, the training programs are still held for new telehealth sites. The most recent program agenda is attached (Agenda),(Adobe Reader). Each attendee is given a bound copy of the program's curriculum to keep as a source of reference.
MTN provides training to new and existing members on an informal basis as well. Each time a new telehealth site is added to the network or a new site coordinator is appointed at an existing site, the MTN staff provides hands-on equipment training for the new person or persons. Also, a resource manual is given to the new site to use for a reference. This manual is attached (Manual). The manual includes a guide to using videoconferencing equipment, auxiliary store and forward cameras, video etiquette and basic troubleshooting.
One other form of training the MTN staff has entitled "Cyber Coffee" was created as a way for the site coordinators to practice with the equipment by connecting with MTN staff at a specified time each week or month. This allows the site coordinators to ask questions of the MTN staff as well as practice with the equipment. This also enables the MTN staff to record statistics regarding the connection to detemine if the connection is deficient in any way.
